About the role#
The Surgical Technology Internship is a 17-week paid program designed for students entering the final semester of their surgical technology program. You will work one-on-one with experienced surgical technologists and learn from educators in both clinical and classroom settings. The program requires 150 internship hours between January and April, including a scheduled orientation and workshop days.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic surgical patient care activities under the supervision of a surgical technologist.
- Prep, drape, and set up the sterile field.
- Maintain aseptic technique during procedures.
- Manage specimens and pull cases.
- Advocate for patients throughout their surgical experience.
- Assist with room turnover, room preparation, and stocking supplies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited surgical technology program, entering your final semester.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- A valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or a willingness to obtain one before the start date.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to push or pull supply carts weighing over 75 pounds.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, full-time internship based in Cleveland, Ohio.
- Placements are available at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, Marymount Hospital, Lorain Family Health Surgery Center, Fairview Hospital, and Medina Hospital.
- The program begins on January 4 with a mix of virtual and on-site orientation.
