About the role#
This position offers nursing students the opportunity to gain hands-on patient care experience while completing their degree. The role is PRN (as needed) and provides scheduling flexibility to support academic commitments. You will work alongside experienced nursing professionals to build confidence and clinical familiarity. Please note that a minimum of 64 hours of work is required between June 2027 and August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN.
- Take vital signs and weights.
- Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
- Perform patient transfers and transport.
- Conduct pulse oximetry and point of care testing.
- Perform dressing changes and apply external monitoring devices.
- Remove urinary Foley catheters.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in a patient's physical, mental, or emotional condition to an RN.
- Assist with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program).
- Completion of at least one nursing program acute care clinical rotation.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Proficiency in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at a minimum junior high level.
- Demonstrated competence in professional, technical, and clinical knowledge domains.
- State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification is preferred.
- Ability to perform medium work, including lifting and moving patients, standing, and walking for extended periods.
