About the role#
The Summer Associate program provides hands-on experience across project management, field operations, and business development. You will be embedded with a team on a jobsite or within a department to learn the construction business. This full-time program runs for 8 to 10 weeks, beginning in late May or early June. You will participate in a team-based Capstone Project, the Passport Experience, and Clark Corporate University learning requirements.
What you'll do#
- Review gross billings, track change orders, and manage subcontractor requisitions.
- Oversee submittals, RFIs, and material tracking.
- Act as a trusted advisor to subcontractors to ensure successful field installations.
- Monitor tradeworkers with a focus on quality and safety.
- Assist with site logistics and schedule management.
- Resolve unforeseen challenges regarding installation, schedules, and trade partner coordination.
- Review contract documents and provide preliminary evaluations of subcontractor bids.
- Perform quantity takeoffs, prepare bid proposals, and quantify labor and material prices.
- Collaborate on subcontractor agreements and manage professional relationships.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, specifically in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- A proactive approach, professional demeanor, and the ability to build trust with stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills and a sense of urgency.
- Ability to meet commitments and take ownership of tasks.
- Physical ability to work in all weather conditions, navigate uneven terrain, and work in elevated or confined areas.
- Visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work.
- Flexibility to work extended hours as needed.
- Must pass a pre-employment fitness for duty screening.
