About the role#
The Summer Associate Program provides a comprehensive look at the construction industry. As part of the Clark Water team, you will work on infrastructure projects that provide clean water. You will be fully embedded with a team on a jobsite or in a specific department to gain hands-on experience in project management, field operations, and business development. This full-time program runs for 8 to 10 weeks, beginning in late May or early June.
What you'll do#
- Review gross billings, track change orders, and handle subcontractor requisitions.
- Manage submittals, RFIs, and material tracking.
- Plan for successful field installation with subcontractors.
- Monitor tradeworkers to ensure quality and safety standards.
- Assist with schedule management and site logistics.
- Resolve unforeseen challenges regarding installation, scheduling, and trade partner coordination.
- Review contract documents and provide preliminary evaluations of subcontractor bids.
- Perform quantity takeoffs, prepare bid proposals, and quantify labor and material prices.
- Execute subcontractor agreements and manage subcontractor relationships.
- Participate in a team-based Capstone Project and the Passport Experience training program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program.
- An interest in the construction industry.
- Strong communication skills.
- Visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and around moderate to loud noise.
- Comfort working in elevated or confined areas near moving mechanical equipment.
- Ability to stand frequently and navigate active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists.
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment fitness for duty screening.
