About the role#
The Safety Summer Associate program provides hands-on field experience working alongside safety and operational leaders. You will help safeguard the well-being of craft workers and team members while gaining exposure to corporate safety policies and procedures. This full-time, 8 to 10 week program begins in late May or early June.
What you'll do#
- Assist in executing corporate and project-specific safety programs to align with federal, state, and local standards.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by coaching and educating trade partners and internal team members on occupational health and safety.
- Conduct daily jobsite walks to monitor compliance, track metrics, and report on project safety performance.
- Partner with field superintendents and project leadership to plan for high-risk operations, such as critical crane lifts, hazardous material handling, fire prevention, and site evacuation strategies.
- Participate in a team-based capstone project and a series of experiences designed to provide insight into the construction business.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Interest in the construction industry.
- Ability to work in an active, hands-on environment that includes navigating uneven terrain, stairs, and ladders.
- Capacity to lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
- Flexibility to work in various weather conditions and environments, including active construction sites and office settings.
- Availability to work extended hours during critical project phases.
