About the role#
The Optimization & Process Engineering department at CIBC is looking for co-op students to join our Process Engineering, Intelligent Process Solutions, and End-to-End Optimization teams. You will collaborate in a team setting to support ongoing efforts to enhance the delivery of products and services. Your work will focus on data collection, research, and analysis to assist in the design, testing, and implementation of organizational and process improvements.
What you'll do#
- Assess current business processes and recommend improvements to reduce costs and error rates.
- Document current-state processes and design future-state process and client journey flows.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities and implement enhancements.
- Define project requirements and prepare project summaries.
- Conduct data collection, time studies, and analysis using statistical techniques.
- Apply AI concepts to improve processes and personal productivity.
- Prepare clear recommendations, plans, and results for management presentations.
What you'll need#
- Currently in your third or fourth year of undergraduate studies in a STEM program at a Canadian university.
- Ability to participate in a 16-month co-op term.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Digitally savvy with the ability to adapt to new tools and trends.
- Capability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way.

- Location: Toronto, Ontario.
- Work Modality: Hybrid, with 1-3 days per week on-site.
- Employment Type: Full-time, 16-month co-op term.
- Compensation: This is a paid position.
