About the role#
CHS Inc. is offering an Occupational Safety & Health Internship at our refinery in Laurel, Montana. This is a full-time, paid position for the summer of 2026. You will work alongside our environmental staff to support regulatory compliance programs and improve safety systems.
What you'll do#
- Identify and resolve basic safety issues.
- Use computer systems and spreadsheets to track and analyze safety data.
- Spot substandard conditions and report your findings.
- Conduct fact-based analysis to find the root causes of safety or industrial hygiene incidents.
- Help develop recommendations and monitor their implementation.
- Work with the safety group to support company initiatives and contractor services.
- Collaborate with line management, employees, union personnel, and regulatory inspectors.
- Communicate strategies across business units and help plan safety priorities.
What you'll need#
- Completion of your sophomore or junior year in Safety Engineering, Safety Management, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Health Administration, Industrial Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.6 or better.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and previous experience in the oil and gas industry are considered pluses.
