About the role#
We are hiring a Mechanical Engineer Intern for our oil refinery in Laurel, Montana. This is a full-time, paid position for the Summer 2026 term. You will work on-site to support our mechanical engineering and inspection teams in maintaining refinery performance and safety.
What you'll do#
- Provide technical support to refinery engineers and inspectors.
- Analyze inspection data and assist with mechanical equipment design.
- Collaborate with Process Engineers to design and install new projects.
- Develop equipment repair plans and conduct root cause failure analysis.
- Identify and suggest improvements for safety, health, and environmental issues.
- Prepare reports and conduct research on equipment integrity and specifications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior in a Mechanical or Civil Engineering program at a four-year university.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Previous internship experience in the petrochemical or refining industry.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
