About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience in corporate facilities management, landscape architecture, and grounds operations. You will work within the Building and Office Services department to help maintain and improve the 30-acre CHS Corporate Campus. This role involves planning and implementing projects that focus on environmental stewardship and the overall employee experience on campus.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the maintenance of turfgrass, trees, planting beds, and outdoor spaces.
- Support landscape architecture projects from the initial planning phase through to final implementation.
- Conduct tree assessments and support ongoing arboriculture programs.
- Identify and monitor invasive species while assisting with ecological restoration efforts.
- Manage turfgrass activities, including fertilization planning, irrigation monitoring, and pest management.
- Collaborate with contractors to monitor project progress, safety, and quality standards.
- Maintain campus landscape maps, asset inventories, and project documentation.
- Participate in sustainability initiatives, such as water conservation and pollinator habitat development.
- Conduct site inspections to provide recommendations for improving campus functionality and appearance.
- Assist with project budgeting, bid reviews, and event preparations.
- Present findings and project updates to department leadership.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or associate degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, Environmental Science, Facilities Management, or a related field.
- Rising sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to operate company vehicles and on-site utility equipment.
- Experience with landscape design software such as AutoCAD, GIS, SketchUp, or Land F/X.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Previous experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, nurseries, or related fields.
- Knowledge of plant identification, tree care, irrigation systems, or landscape construction.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and navigate a large campus.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.

- Location: Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Structure: This is a full-time, on-site position requiring 5 days per week on campus.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
