About the role#
CHS Inc. is looking for an intern to join the Country Operations division. You will work directly with farmers and producers to gain hands-on experience in agronomy, grain operations, and sales. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Fort Benton, Montana. You will receive on-the-job training covering grain marketing, energy resources, and agronomy plant operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist specialists with crop scouting, soil sampling, and solving agronomic field problems.
- Use integrated pest management techniques to determine treatment thresholds.
- Help the elevator and office staff manage the flow of grain.
- Operate automated scale and dump systems and load or unload products from trucks.
- Learn to use Agris systems for invoicing and inventory management.
- Mix crop protection products and operate application equipment, including high-wheel sprayers, floaters, Rogators, and ditch sprayers.
- Spread fertilizer and gain experience with Precision Ag technology.
- Generate written reports for supervisors and customers.
- Handle over-the-counter sales and assist with product deliveries.
- Maintain a facility environment that complies with state, local, and company safety policies.
- Provide courteous service to all patrons.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Proficiency with MS Office software.
- Prior experience in production agriculture or a solid understanding of the industry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A detail-oriented approach to tasks.
