About the role#
The Foster Care Caseworker Intern supports the Foster Care Team at the Children's Home Association of Illinois. This role provides direct exposure to the child welfare sector through operational support and client-focused activities. Interns assist with documentation, attend court hearings, and participate in program projects.
What you'll do#
- Monitor youth in foster homes or other living situations.
- Write court reports and develop service plans for clients.
- Manage case files and maintain necessary documentation.
- Coordinate short-term projects for the department.
- Attend appointments and assist with various foster care operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or completion of a bachelor's or master's degree in Social Services, Education, Child Development, Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professionalism and tact when handling stressful situations.
- Physical and emotional stamina to manage job-related issues.
- Ability to travel to various locations as needed.
