About the role#
The Culinary/Pastry Extern role is an entry-level position based at the Athenaeum Hotel. You will learn the operations of a high-end kitchen while assisting with product receiving, special events, and day-to-day culinary management. This is a seasonal, full-time position for the summer.
What you'll do#
- Assist with receiving products and managing inventory levels.
- Complete audits, daily reporting, and inventory forms.
- Oversee event operations to ensure food quality, presentation, and service standards.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to deliver guest service.
- Track and implement safety and sanitation protocols.
- Execute menus while accounting for special dietary needs.
- Adhere to purchasing procedures and implement controls to minimize operating costs.
- Maintain high visibility in the kitchen and gather direct feedback from guests.
What you'll need#
- Prior culinary experience.
- Ability to work in a high-end environment.
- Compliance with food safety, health regulations, and labor laws.

- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: $16.00 to $18.00 per hour based on experience.
