Commercial Banking Credit Analyst

About the role#

This Military SkillBridge Internship provides a transition from active-duty military service to a career in commercial banking. Participants will complete a virtual, no-cost financial modeling certification program focused on three-statement financial modeling, industry-standard Excel formatting, and operational speed. Following certification, interns will serve as a Credit Analyst in training at a leading regional commercial bank.

What you'll do#

• Evaluate the financial health of businesses by analyzing financial statements, cash flow, and relevant data such as revenue trends, profit margins, and debt levels.
• Assess lending risk by considering industry trends, market conditions, and borrower credit history.
• Utilize scoring models to quantify creditworthiness and assign credit scores based on payment history and credit utilization.
• Compile findings into detailed reports, including financial ratios, risk analysis, and recommendations for loan terms or credit limits.
• Communicate with borrowers to gather information and clarify financial details.
• Collaborate with colleagues, including loan officers and underwriters, to ensure comprehensive application evaluations.

What you'll need#

• 3-5 years of active-duty military leadership experience, with a preference for combat arms backgrounds.
• A record of honorable service and exemplary service evaluations.
• A strong passion for starting a career in finance and commercial banking.
• Willingness to complete a virtual, no-cost financial modeling certification program and testing prior to transition.
• Ability to leverage leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills gained through military service.
