You will work on-site to design, prototype, and validate data collection rigs and the pipelines that turn raw sensor streams into training-ready datasets.
What you'll do#
- Design and prototype data collection hardware, such as camera rigs, sensor mounts, teleoperation interfaces, end-effector assemblies, and wrist-cam assemblies.
- Build recording and data-handling scripts targeting HDF5 and LeRobot dataset formats.
- Integrate and evaluate off-the-shelf components, including RGB-D camera arrays, dexterous hands, teleoperation gloves, and VR headsets.
- Support real-world data collection and model evaluation sessions on robot arms and humanoid platforms.
- Document hardware specifications, bills of materials, and reproducible setup procedures.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in or completed a Master's or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Python, with comfort working in Linux and using version control systems.
- Hands-on experience with at least one of the following: ROS/ROS2, sensor integration, CAD (OpenSCAD, Onshape, or SolidWorks), or 3D printing.
- Familiarity with depth cameras, SLAM, or multi-camera calibration.
