About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work alongside experienced cybersecurity professionals to gain hands-on experience with security assessments, compliance, and system testing. The program runs from June 7, 2027, through August 6, 2027, and requires a 40-hour weekly commitment.
What you'll do#
- Support security assessment and accreditation activities for IT systems and applications.
- Conduct security and compliance audits, risk assessments, and system testing.
- Develop security plans and support the implementation of security controls.
- Review and document policy, incident response, and remediation gaps.
- Collaborate with senior staff to create action plans based on findings.
- Maintain data used to support remediation activities.
- Assist with the maintenance of security policies and procedures.
What you'll need#
- Currently a Junior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cybersecurity with a 3.5 GPA or higher.
- Foundational understanding of networking and operating systems, including TCP/IP, Windows, and Linux.
- Previous experience in IT network or systems administration.
- Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through coursework, clubs, competitions, or personal projects.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to document procedures effectively.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well in a team environment.
- Preferred skills include familiarity with compliance frameworks, cloud platforms like Azure or AWS, and basic scripting in Python or PowerShell.
- Preferred certifications include CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or similar credentials.
Location & details#
- Primary location: Irvine, California.
- This role is on-site, with potential for remote work on specific tasks.
- Candidates must be able to reliably commute to the Irvine office.
