About the role#
Cahill Contractors is hiring for a Summer 2027 Estimating Internship. This is a full-time, paid position based in our Oakland office. You will work in a hybrid capacity, with a minimum of three days per week spent in the office.
What you'll do#
- Perform quantity take-offs with a focus on accuracy.
- Communicate directly with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare documents for subcontractors to use for budgeting and bidding.
- Create scopes of work for construction trades.
- Review subcontractor and supplier proposals for completeness.
- Negotiate pricing and assist with pricing qualifications.
- Help assemble final estimates and GMPs for client submission.
- Identify and develop value engineering opportunities for clients and architects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree program is preferred.
- Ability to review and understand construction plans and specifications.
- Proficiency with Excel.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks within provided deadlines.

- Compensation: $27.50 per hour.
