About the role#
This is a paid, 3-month summer internship for high school students graduating in June 2027. You will join our Agile Solution Factory (ASF) team to learn how software is designed, built, and maintained. You will work alongside experienced mentors on mission-critical projects for border enforcement and homeland security. The program runs from July 2027 through September 2027.
What you'll do#
- Learn and become certified in the ASF delivery execution model.
- Use AI tools and prompt engineering to develop user stories, test cases, and documentation.
- Participate in project activities, including release planning, sprint reviews, and product demonstrations.
- Help improve software by testing features, identifying bugs, and suggesting improvements.
- Explore how automation and new technologies support software delivery.
- Learn about systems architecture, cybersecurity, and data management.
- Build professional communication and teamwork skills.
What you'll need#
- You must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old by July 2, 2027.
- You must be a high school senior on track to graduate by June 2027.
- You must be able to pass a background investigation.
- Strong interest in technology, problem solving, and software development.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with computers and logical thinking.
- Willingness to learn programming fundamentals.
- Helpful experience includes exposure to AI technologies, any programming language, database tools, or participation in STEM clubs and coding projects.
