About the role#
The Aviation & Federal group at Burns & McDonnell handles program management, master planning, and facility design for commercial aviation and military projects. This includes work on terminals, hangars, infrastructure, and fueling systems. As an intern, you will support these projects while learning standard engineering practices.
What you'll do#
- Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to project tasks.
- Assist lead engineers with daily project duties.
- Create, correct, and update engineering system designs.
What you'll need#
- Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary or technical certificate program.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA is strongly preferred, as is an ABET-accredited degree program.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and active involvement in campus or community organizations.
- Prior internship or consulting experience is preferred.
- You must be a self-motivated learner.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Role is based in Atlanta, Georgia.
- This is an on-site, full-time position.
- Travel is required approximately 5 percent of the time.
- Interns may participate in the 401(k) retirement program if they meet eligibility requirements.
- Sick leave is accrued based on hours worked.
