About the role#
As a Civil Engineering Intern in the Water and Municipal group, you will support the planning and design of water supply, treatment, and distribution systems. You will work alongside lead engineers to assist with project tasks and contribute to the development of infrastructure for government and industrial clients. This is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Apply standard engineering techniques to design tasks.
- Correct and update existing engineering designs.
- Support lead engineers with daily project duties and ad hoc assignments.
- Collect and analyze data to participate in continuous improvement efforts.
- Research and present solutions to project-related problems.
- Handle administrative tasks such as documentation, data entry, and presentation preparation.
- Comply with all company policies and standards.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited program. ABET accreditation is preferred.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and active involvement in campus or community organizations.
- Prior internship or consulting experience is a plus.
- A self-motivated attitude and a desire to learn.
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Locations: Norfolk, Richmond, or Arlington, Virginia.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time with approximately 5 percent travel required.
- Benefits: Interns may participate in the 401(k) retirement program if eligibility requirements are met and accrue sick leave based on hours worked.
