About the role#
The Security Operations Intern joins the Burlington Response and Investigation Center (BRIC) for a 10-week summer program. You will gain hands-on experience in crisis management, organizational resilience, and incident response while working within a corporate Global Security Operations Center. This role provides direct exposure to the operations of a large-scale retailer and includes mentorship from a BRIC specialist.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate the intake of incident reports from store teams and assess events to determine communication and escalation needs.
- Monitor for physical security threats, weather-related risks, and general threats to company operations.
- Utilize case management and OSINT platforms to investigate theft, fraud, and persons of interest.
- Respond to alarm activity and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure a swift resolution.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and optimize CCTV systems to maintain surveillance standards.
- Remotely audit third-party guard adherence to guidelines and evaluate emergency guard requests.
- Execute internal and external investigation support and engage in broad investigative initiatives.
- Collaborate with field partners to assess situations and protect company assets.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public Administration, International Relations, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to create clear reports.
- Ability to think critically, analyze information, and respond effectively under pressure.
- A self-starter mindset with curiosity, adaptability, and an affinity for safety and security.
- Knowledge of ICS and NIMS systems is preferred but not required.

- This is a 100% on-site internship located at our corporate headquarters in Burlington, New Jersey.
- The program runs during the Summer of 2027.
