About the role#
This is a 10-week summer internship program designed to mirror the day-to-day responsibilities of a full-time associate. You will gain hands-on experience in the retail buying process through mentorship, leadership seminars, and classroom training. This program serves as a foundation for a career in retail buying.
What you'll do#
- Support the buying team with merchandise selection, pricing, and negotiation.
- Assist in assortment and category planning to meet customer demand.
- Research trends and prepare trend boards for seasonal strategy meetings.
- Update and track purchase orders to ensure products arrive on time.
- Participate in competitive shopping visits to identify product opportunities and labels.
- Travel to vendor appointments, trade shows, and market visits to assist with product selection.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028.
- Pursuing a degree in Merchandising, Business, Retail Management, Supply Chain, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to travel within the California region for business needs including store visits and market appointments.
