About the role#
BSI Financial Services is looking for a Summer 2027 intern to join the Capital Markets team. This role offers hands-on experience with credit risk, loss modeling, and portfolio performance analysis within the mortgage lending and servicing sector. You will work with large financial datasets to identify trends and evaluate opportunities for loss mitigation.
What you'll do#
- Analyze historical and current data regarding foreclosed loans, specifically looking at recovery rates, timelines, and loss severity.
- Identify loss drivers based on loan characteristics like geography, origination vintage, property type, and servicing outcomes.
- Assist with financial reporting and interest rate risk hedging strategies for the portfolio of loans held for sale.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and summary presentations for stakeholders.
- Support the team with ad hoc tasks as assigned by management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to communicate findings clearly through writing and presentations.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Bonus points for familiarity with mortgage lending, credit risk, interest rate dynamics, or experience with SQL, Python, R, or financial modeling.
