About the role#
Bracco is looking for a Firmware Engineering Co-op to join the R&D team in Eden Prairie. You will work alongside engineers to design, test, and debug the embedded systems that power our medical devices. This role is for students who want hands-on experience with real hardware, communication protocols, and low-level software development. You will participate in the full embedded development lifecycle, from initial concepts to working prototypes.
What you'll do#
- Write and debug firmware in C/C++ for microcontroller-based systems.
- Implement and troubleshoot communication interfaces including I2C, SPI, and Serial (UART).
- Use JTAG emulators and debugging tools to resolve hardware and firmware issues.
- Develop Python scripts to support test automation, data collection, and validation.
- Use AI tools to accelerate code generation and build test scripts.
- Support data processing and analysis from test and sensor data.
- Prototype and validate designs using off-the-shelf development boards.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to bring designs from concept to prototype.
- Document code, test procedures, and results for the team.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency with C/C++ and working knowledge of Python.
- Coursework or hands-on experience with microcontrollers and basic circuits.
- Experience with communication interfaces such as I2C, SPI, and Serial.
- Familiarity with JTAG emulators and hardware debugging tools.
- Understanding of using AI tools to generate code and test scripts.
- Experience with data processing or analysis.
- Hands-on experience with development boards like Arduino or vendor kits.
Location & details#
- Location: Eden Prairie, Minnesota (On-site).
- Terms: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027.
- Status: Full-time (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: Paid position ($23.00 - $25.00 per hour).
