About the role#
Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee is looking for a Computer Science Intern to join the Code Academy team in Davidson County for the Winter 2027 term. You will work directly with students to help them build their knowledge of technology, STEM, and app development. This is a paid, on-site internship that offers the chance to build your portfolio while supporting youth development.
What you'll do#
- Teach coding concepts and app design to club members.
- Lead sessions using provided curriculum and training materials.
- Develop an individual project to address a program need or collaborate on an existing app design.
- Instruct, mentor, and counsel club members on a daily basis.
- Create and run engaging activities on virtual platforms.
- Coordinate daily with club staff, volunteers, and youth to discuss guidelines and program progress.
What you'll need#
- A High school diploma or GED.
- 1 to 2 years of experience working with children or youth.
- An interest in coding concepts and app design.
- Knowledge of computers, applications, and virtual platforms like Zoom and Teams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to supervise members in a safe environment.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Preference is given to candidates with a Bachelor's or Associate's degree, or those currently pursuing a related degree.
- Experience with iOS programs, Apple products, and Xcode is helpful.
- Knowledge of youth development and current CPR or First Aid certifications are preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Nashville, Tennessee.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Schedule: 5 to 15 hours per week based on program needs.
- Compensation: $16 per hour with travel reimbursement at $0.67 per mile.
