About the role#
Boston Properties (BXP) is hiring for an Accounting Co-Op to support the team in Boston, Massachusetts. This is a full-time, paid position running from January through June 2027. You will report to the Senior Manager and VP, Regional Controller while assisting Senior Accountants with daily financial tasks and reporting. This role is strictly on-site.
What you'll do#
- Support the quarterly close process by preparing lead and supporting schedules.
- Assist with financial and management reporting, including revenue and expense variance explanations.
- Resolve Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable questions for tenants.
- Perform data entry and journal entries in the JD Edwards system.
- Manage tenant invoicing through the billable work order system and building authorizations.
- Calculate quarterly sales overage for retail tenants and maintain the Sales Tracking Database.
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, including security deposits and mortgage payables.
- Assist with Fixed Asset Schedules, utility expense tracking, and occupancy schedules.
- Help prepare Real Estate Tax I&E forms and 404-compliance tasks.
- Support the Core Group on special projects and act as a backup for team members.
What you'll need#
- Associates degree is required; a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration is preferred.
- 0-2 years of related experience, ideally in billing, customer service, or general accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, plus experience with database and spreadsheet software.
- Strong communication skills to resolve conflicts and handle difficult situations.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Self-confidence to operate independently and take initiative.
- Leadership experience in a team setting.
