About the role#
As an Embedded Software Engineer Co-op, you will contribute to the development and testing of firmware and software for Bose audio products. You will work within a team of software, systems, DSP, acoustics, and hardware engineers. This role covers the entire development lifecycle, from initial design and implementation to debugging, validation, and deployment.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and test embedded software and firmware for audio systems and engineering platforms.
- Write maintainable code using C, C++, and Python.
- Prototype and integrate software on embedded processors and hardware platforms.
- Build automation tools to improve testing, performance measurement, and engineering workflows.
- Debug, validate, and benchmark software performance in embedded environments.
- Participate in code reviews and follow standard version-control practices.
- Create technical documentation for software design, implementation, and testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, DSP, acoustics, and hardware engineering.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Programming experience with C, C++, or Python.
- Coursework or project experience in embedded systems, software development, algorithms, computer architecture, or operating systems.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hands-on engineering environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with embedded processors, RTOS, Linux, or embedded Linux.
- Experience with Git or other source-control tools.
- Knowledge of DSP, audio signal processing, or real-time audio systems.
- Experience with software testing, automation, CI/CD, or performance profiling.
- Familiarity with microcontrollers, ARM-based systems, device drivers, or hardware-software interfaces.
- Experience using laboratory equipment or working with electronic hardware.
