About the role#
The Student Nurse Apprentice Program (SNAP) at Boone Health offers paid clinical hours for nursing students graduating in May 2027. This program is designed to enhance clinical skills, self-confidence, and critical thinking through work in Med-Surg or Progressive Care Units. Participants commit to a two-year role in their assigned department as a Registered Nurse following graduation. After completing clinical hours, students continue working at least 8 hours per pay period in an apprentice, LPN, or PCT capacity.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care to support licensed professional nurses in a healing environment.
- Collect and report vital patient information and clinical data to the RN to assist with patient assessments.
- Document all patient care activities and assist with patient and family education.
- Perform tasks such as activities of daily living assistance, vital signs, intake and output monitoring, fall and pressure ulcer prevention, phlebotomy, and point of care testing.
- Participate in activities that promote safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, including acting as a 1:1 patient safety sitter when necessary.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in the final year of an accredited RN or BSN program.
- No prior experience is required.
- No specific licenses or certifications are required.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner as this is a safety-sensitive position.
