About the role#
As a Computer Vision Research Engineer Intern, you will join the team building applications for the construction trades. You will work on real production problems rather than side projects. You will own a scoped piece of work from start to finish, receive mentorship from experienced engineers, and see your models reach customers who use them daily.
What you'll do#
- Build and improve computer vision models for detection, segmentation, or OCR on construction drawings.
- Contribute to our pipelines, including data preparation, labeling workflows, training runs, and evaluation.
- Run experiments, measure results, and clearly communicate what worked and what did not.
- Dig into real customer data to identify failure modes and propose fixes.
- Work with fullstack and product engineers to help get your work into production.
- Read relevant research and test ideas that could improve our models.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- A solid foundation in deep learning and computer vision through coursework, research, or projects.
- Hands-on experience training models in PyTorch or similar frameworks.
- Strong Python skills.
- Curiosity about messy, real-world data like scanned, handwritten, or imperfect documents.
- High ownership, meaning you ask good questions and run with the answers.
- Experience with document AI, OCR, or vision-language models is a bonus.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, in-person role located in San Francisco, California.
- The internship lasts 12 to 16 weeks.
- The position is paid at $55 per hour.
- Strong interns may be considered for full-time roles.
