About the role#
The Behavioral Health Higher Education Program (BHHEP) connects students with behavioral health providers across the 24 county North Central Health Choices network. This program helps students gain practical experience while supporting provider staffing levels. BHARP manages the project and coordinates with the advisory council to oversee the internship process.
What you'll do#
- Complete an internship with a provider contracted under the 24 county North Central Health Choices agreement.
- Fulfill this requirement during your senior year or the final year of your Master's degree.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a junior, senior, or Master's level student at an accredited college or university.
- A genuine interest in the behavioral health field.
- Pennsylvania residency.
- A valid driver's license.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, on-site internship.
- The program operates on a rolling basis within Pennsylvania.
About BHARP
The Behavioral Health Alliance of Rural Pennsylvania is a non-profit organization based in State College. Founded in 2006, it manages the HealthChoices program for Medicaid recipients across twenty-four Pennsylvania counties. The organization works with the state Department of Human Services to provide behavioral health coverage. It also supports healthcare providers in its service area to improve treatment access.
