Beyond Reach Labs is developing large-scale deployable structures for space infrastructure. As a Mechanical Engineer Intern, you will design, analyze, and validate mechanical systems and actuators, including solar arrays and radiators. You will contribute to both the improvement of existing systems and the design of next-generation hardware.
What you'll do#
- Identify and analyze requirements, conduct trade studies on mechanism design options, and apply First Principles Engineering Analysis.
- Create and iterate detailed CAD models, including mechanism architecture and test methods.
- Conduct classical and FEA analysis for all load conditions to ensure adequate margins and reliability.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans throughout development.
- Produce complete design packages, including detailed drawings, analysis reports, and BOMs.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 6 months of experience outside the classroom, such as project teams, research, or previous internships.
- Experience designing and qualifying mechanisms driven by stepper or BLDC motors, springs, and HDRMs.
- Proficiency in developing design models and drawings for production and analysis using CAD software.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to support project milestones.
