About the role#
The Development and Programs Intern supports the planning and execution of fundraising events and local programs. This role is a fit for those interested in non-profit management, business development, or event planning. You will help with the logistics of our annual gala, manage donor communications, and assist in the daily operations of our friendship programs.
What you'll do#
- Support event logistics, including publicity, communication, and day-of preparation.
- Secure auction items and in-kind donations for fundraisers.
- Research potential sponsors and manage development-related e-communications.
- Create and post content for Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms.
- Attend and photograph supporting events.
- Assist with the Best Buddies Leadership Conference and local youth ambassador events.
- Maintain friendship program data in the Salesforce database.
- Collaborate with Program Managers to plan the upcoming school year calendar and projects like Best Buddies 360.
What you'll need#
- Strong written communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of social media tools and Microsoft Office.
- Comfort engaging with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Confidence in reaching out to potential sponsors and local businesses.

- This is an on-site internship based in Rochester, New York.
- The position is paid and full-time.
