Technical Animator - Internship Fall 2026

About the role#

We are looking for a curious and creative intern to join our team as a Technical Animator Intern to work on an unannounced IP. This role focuses on designing tools, pipelines, and visual effects to help create immersive, innovative gaming experiences.

What you'll do#

• Understand the technical vision of animation development.
• Modify and improve rigs and perform model skinning.
• Bring static characters to life by adding widgets, controllers, and bones.
• Support animators to optimize the integration and use of animations in the game engine.
• Complete assigned tasks on time while communicating effectively with artists involved in the production.

What you'll need#

• Strong knowledge of technical animation, including rigging, skinning, integration, and 3D animation.
• Experience with Unreal Engine.
• Knowledge of the GameMesh optimization pipeline and UVs.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Maya; knowledge of Python and Blender is considered an asset.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to communicate technical ideas clearly to artistic teams.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Graphic Design, Art, or Media Studies.

Location & details#

• Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
• Term: Fall 2026 (4 months, starting September 2026).
• Work Modality: On-site (requires presence in the Montreal office a few days a week).
• Commitment: Full-time (37.5 hours per week).
• Eligibility: Must be eligible to work full-time in Quebec, Canada at the time of application.
