Surgical Technologist Intern

About the role#

This internship provides senior-year students the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience within an academic medical center. Working alongside experienced surgical technologists, nurses, and surgeons, interns develop the technical skills and confidence required for a career in surgical technology. This role supports a range of surgical procedures, including minimally invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic surgeries.

What you'll do#

• Prepare operating rooms for upcoming surgeries.
• Sterilize instruments and ensure all equipment is ready for use.
• Assist surgeons by passing instruments and supplies during procedures.
• Maintain a sterile field and support a safe surgical environment.
• Prepare patients for procedures and support intra-operative temperature regulation.
• Handle and label specimens accurately.
• Participate as an active member of the surgical team.
• Complete required documentation within your scope of practice.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Status as a senior-year Surgical Technologist student.
• Ability to obtain Surgical Technologist certification within 6 months of graduation.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.

• Compensation: Paid position with a pay range of $25.26 to $34.33 per hour.
