About the role#
This internship provides hands-on clinical experience within a state-of-the-art academic medical center. Interns work alongside experienced surgical technologists, nurses, and surgeons to gain the technical skills and clinical confidence required for a career in surgical technology. This is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Prepare operating rooms for upcoming surgeries.
- Sterilize instruments and ensure equipment readiness.
- Assist surgeons by passing instruments and supplies.
- Maintain a sterile field and a safe surgical environment.
- Prepare patients for procedures.
- Participate as an active member of the surgical team.
- Support intra-operative temperature regulation and follow sharps safety protocols.
- Handle and label specimens accurately.
- Complete required documentation within the scope of practice.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Status as a senior-year Surgical Technologist student.
- Ability to obtain Surgical Technologist certification within 6 months of graduation.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
