About the role#
This is a full-time summer internship position based in Saskatoon. You will support the Agricultural Solutions team by conducting precision technology activities for field trials and breeding programs. The role involves a mix of field work, data analysis, and technology operations to help develop hybrid crops.
What you'll do#
- Plan and conduct aerial surveys using remotely piloted aircraft.
- Prepare fields, create survey plans, and schedule data collection routines.
- Process image data and conduct analytics for the breeding pipeline.
- Use R or Python for data analysis and model development.
- Handle field tasks including seed setup, land preparation, seeding, and crop health diagnosis.
- Manage pest control, pollination, plot maintenance, and harvesting.
- Supervise casual employees when required.
What you'll need#
- A degree or diploma in Agriculture, Biology, Computer Science, or Engineering obtained within the last two years.
- Understanding of plant breeding, agronomy, and precision technology.
- Working knowledge of R or Python.
- Ability to solve problems and adapt to changing conditions.
- Strong focus on achieving individual and team goals.
- Basic operations drone pilot certificate is preferred, though we can guide you through the licensing process.
- Experience with farm machinery or drones is an asset.
Location & details#
- Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
- Term: 4 months, Summer 2027.
- Pay: $25 to $32 per hour.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Overtime pay applies for evening or weekend work during peak periods.
