About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship position for Summer 2027 based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. You will join the Agricultural Solutions team to support field trials and breeding programs. The role involves a mix of field work and data analysis, requiring you to work both independently and within a team.
What you'll do#
- Conduct precision technology activities for field trials and breeding programs.
- Prepare fields for aerial surveys and create survey plans.
- Schedule data collection and validate processes.
- Plan and conduct surveys using remotely piloted aircraft to gather phenotypic data.
- Process image data and perform data analytics for the breeding pipeline.
- Develop data models using R or Python.
- Perform field tasks including seed setup, land preparation, seeding, crop health diagnosis, pest control, pollination management, and harvesting.
- Supervise casual employees as needed.
What you'll need#
- Degree or diploma in Agriculture, Biology, Computer Science, or Engineering.
- Understanding of plant breeding, agronomy, and precision technology.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
- Commitment to achieving individual and team goals.
- A basic operations drone pilot certificate is an asset.
- Working knowledge of R or Python is an asset.
- Previous experience with farms, machinery, or drones is an asset.
Location & details#
- Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
- Duration: 4 months (Summer 2027).
- Compensation: $25 - $32 per hour.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Note: Overtime pay applies for evening or weekend work during peak seasons.
