About the role#
This is a four month summer position based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. You will join the Agricultural Solutions team to support field research programs. Please note that students are hired and employed through a third-party contracting agency.
What you'll do#
- Conduct field trials to evaluate canola hybrids, seed technology, and agronomic practices.
- Manage field trial activities ranging from commercial scale to small plots.
- Handle all stages of trial execution including land preparation, seeding setup, pest control, plot maintenance, and harvesting.
- Supervise casual employees as needed.
- Travel regularly within the region for field scouting.
- Monitor field and research plots daily to diagnose crop health.
- Collect and analyze research data.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Agriculture or a related field.
- Practical experience in the agriculture industry.
- A valid driver's license.
- Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills.
- Ability to adapt and modify plans as field conditions change.
- Experience in agriculture field research is an asset.
- Ability to work toward both individual and team goals.
