Facilities Management Intern

About the role#

Banterra Bank is seeking a Facilities Management Intern to support the maintenance and operations of a multi-location bank portfolio. This role offers hands-on experience in project coordination, data analysis, and space planning. Interns will work under a mentorship framework, engaging with various departments and traveling to area branch locations to assist with facility assessments and administrative tasks.

What you'll do#

• Shadow the facilities team to gain an understanding of operations and management.
• Contribute to special projects through research, meeting participation, and project tracking.
• Organize records, track maintenance requests, and maintain facility-related data in Excel.
• Assist in coordinating facilities projects across branch and office locations.
• Conduct structured assessments of branch locations to build a centralized facilities database.
• Create and maintain a centralized inventory of facility assets and property characteristics.
• Compile historical data and prepare reports or presentations for senior leadership.
• Perform light physical tasks as needed, such as moving items or assembling furniture.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a degree program such as Business Administration, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Minimum Junior or beyond collegiate standing.
• Basic knowledge of facilities management, construction, architecture, design, or business operations.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly with Excel spreadsheets.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
• A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and appropriate insurance coverage for regular travel.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

• Location: Carbondale, Illinois.
• Modality: On-site.
• Commitment: Part-time, approximately 30 hours per week.
• Status: Paid internship.
