About the role#
As an Estimating Intern at Baker Construction, you will gain practical experience on the job site to supplement your academic studies. You will work alongside our team to complete assigned tasks, resolve project issues, and document your findings. This is a paid, full-time position that offers a chance to learn industry practices while contributing to real projects.
What you'll do#
- Complete various tasks on the job site while working safely and productively.
- Collaborate with team members and managers to resolve project-related issues.
- Document outcomes and resolutions to problems encountered during your work.
- Actively support an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) environment.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in toolbox talks and contribute to safety task analysis.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program at a college or university.
- Prior work experience in any field.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and foremen.
- Willingness to ask questions to learn and maintain safety.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical processes like ratios, percentages, and standard arithmetic.
- Capability to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, and hazard information.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including handling objects up to 50 pounds and navigating the job site.
- Ability to work well within a team-oriented environment.
