About the role#
The Platform Firmware team manages the firmware inside our multi-wavelength laser modules, optical engines, and management controllers. This work is critical to ensuring our hardware remains reliable and performs as expected in datacenter environments. You will work alongside our engineers to build systems that observe hardware behavior, detect degradation, and improve firmware quality. We will tailor your specific projects to match your background and interests.
What you'll do#
- Build telemetry systems to make our optical hardware observable.
- Develop DevOps and hardware-in-the-loop infrastructure to measure firmware quality.
- Analyze telemetry data to create early warnings for hardware degradation.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to support our optical I/O developments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. program in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of C, C++, and Python.
- Comfort working in Linux and using git.
- Hands-on experience debugging real hardware.
- An instinct to trust measurements over assumptions.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with effective self-management skills.
- A willingness to learn the physics behind our data.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027 (May to August).
- The role is based on-site in San Jose, California.
