About the role#
This is a temporary, project-based internship for Summer 2027. You will work with experienced systems engineers to support programs involving spaceflight hardware and ground systems. The role involves contributing to requirements definition, interface management, system architecture, and verification planning. You will be based on-site in Houston, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Support systems engineering activities for assigned subsystems or components.
- Assist with requirements definition, documentation, and traceability.
- Help manage interface control activities and system architecture development.
- Support verification and validation planning, including test plan development and execution.
- Conduct integrated performance assessments and trade studies.
- Document engineering products and present status updates to your team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Use agile development methodologies to manage project progress and issues.
- Work on EVA or spacesuit systems, station systems, or ground systems depending on your assignment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student (MS/MA or Ph.D.) in Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Coursework or project experience in systems engineering principles like requirements, architecture, or verification.
- Exposure to requirements management or MBSE tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Cameo.
- Familiarity with engineering analysis tools like MATLAB.
- Previous experience through internships, co-ops, or hands-on projects like robotics clubs or design teams.
- Strong time management and communication skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends when project milestones require it.
- Willingness to undergo export control screening if required for access to technical data.
