About the role#
As a Service Technician Intern, you will work directly with valves, instruments, and automation technology. You will spend your time in a shop environment, supporting projects for industries ranging from refineries to power plants. This is a part-time, paid internship for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
What you'll do#
- Disassemble, clean, blast, evaluate, paint, and test various valves and instruments, including pressure relief, control, and automated on/off valves.
- Work with experienced technicians to analyze valve issues and determine the right corrective actions.
- Assist in the assembly of new automated valve components and related instrumentation.
- Maintain high safety and quality standards in the shop.
- Manage your time to meet deadlines and participate in shop improvement projects.
What you'll need#
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Precision when working within close tolerances to ensure product quality.
- Experience or interest in bolt torquing techniques.
- Knowledge of or a willingness to learn ASME, NBIC, and API codes.
- An understanding of relief, safety relief, and process valves.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- A strong focus on maintaining a safe work environment.
