About the role#
As a Firmware Engineer intern, you will architect and develop firmware and microcontroller subsystems for our SoC and systems products. Firmware is central to our hardware, and you will work directly with the hardware team to implement key product features. This role involves direct interaction to ensure customer needs are fully understood and met.
What you'll do#
- Architect and develop firmware and microcontroller subsystems.
- Implement major differentiating features for our products.
- Work collaboratively with the hardware team.
- Participate in testing and debugging processes.
- Use tools like JTAG and trace logs to resolve firmware and hardware issues.
- Develop firmware for on-chip microcontrollers using C or C++.
- Use Python for scripting and automation.
- Manage code through SCM, code reviews, and CI workflows.
What you'll need#
- A strong academic background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Completion of at least one co-op term focused on firmware or embedded software development.
- Coursework or practical experience with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
- Proficiency in C or C++ and Python.
- Experience with developer workflows including git and CI.
- A professional attitude with the ability to formulate theories and ask thoughtful questions.
- Authorization to work in Canada and availability for at least 4 months.
- Knowledge of PyTest, GoogleTest, build environments, or PCIe/CXL/Ethernet protocols is an asset.
