About the role#
The Financial Management Program Internship provides accounting, business systems, and financial reporting support to scientists, engineers, and organizations across the Laboratory. Interns facilitate timely payments to employees and suppliers while assisting with the allocation of funding and costs to various projects. You will work within a team that emphasizes transparency and collaboration.
What you'll do#
- Monitor laboratory expenses and revenues using the Workday enterprise reporting platform.
- Conduct cost analysis and financial reconciliation using Microsoft Excel.
- Collaborate with financial professionals to collect information and resolve financial issues.
- Develop process documentation using standard templates in Microsoft Word.
- Assist with audit support, track communications, and support the transition to paperless record retention.
What you'll need#
- U.S. citizenship.
- Current full-time enrollment at an accredited institution, with at least one semester completed.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate study in a business program.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- A strong interest in business disciplines such as accounting, finance, economics, or management information systems.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with an aptitude for math and processing logic.
- Ability to maintain composure and confidence when managing competing deadlines and difficult situations.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Lemont, Illinois, with remote work options available.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The program operates on a rolling basis.
- Offers are contingent upon passing a screening drug test and a background check. You may be required to obtain government access authorization.
