About the role#
ArchCity Defenders is seeking a development intern to assist our team in educating the community and donors about our mission. You will help research and nurture relationships with funders, manage database information, and support the planning and execution of events. This role is a paid, part-time opportunity for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Brainstorm communication ideas and write stories for marketing and events.
- Update the development database using Blackbaud.
- Research and create materials for grant applications.
- Identify and nurture relationships with potential individual and corporate donors.
- Find potential donor sources, small business partners, mission-aligned celebrities, and corporate champions.
- Summarize weekly progress for the Director of Development.
- Attend development update meetings.
- Support the mission of ArchCity Defenders and assist the team with other assigned duties.
What you'll need#
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM software.
- An outgoing personality and an interest in building connections with businesses and individuals.
- Basic administrative skills and the ability to work independently within deadlines.
- Experience with events or fundraisers is a plus.
- Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the team.
- A commitment to the mission of racial and economic justice.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity toward diverse populations, including an understanding of the structures of power, privilege, and oppression.
Location & details#
- This internship is located in St. Louis, Missouri.
- The role is on-site at our office location.
- The term runs for 8 to 12 weeks during Winter 2027.
- Interns are expected to work part-time hours.
