About the role#
ArchCity Defenders is looking for a Digital Media Intern to join our communications team for the summer of 2027. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to conceptualize and execute design projects, produce content for our website and social media channels, and assist in designing various digital and print materials. This role is a full-time, on-site position based in St. Louis, Missouri.
What you'll do#
- Present innovative communications and media ideas.
- Brainstorm design concepts and draft initial designs for review.
- Assist with the design of materials, including graphics for social media, print publications, events, and marketing collateral.
- Take pictures and produce videos for our website and social media channels.
- Update the website with content using WordPress.
- Conduct research on social, legal, racial, and economic issues.
- Present social media metrics reports and suggest strategy improvements.
- Attend communications update meetings.
- Complete other duties as assigned to support the team.
What you'll need#
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva.
- Curiosity about learning new systems.
- Experience or interest in developing accessible and relevant content for social media.
- Experience editing and drafting website content.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a detail-oriented approach to teamwork.
- High capacity for problem solving and self-direction.
- Ability to work independently within time constraints and adapt to changing needs.
- A commitment to racial and economic justice and systems change.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity toward diverse populations, including an awareness of structures of power, privilege, and oppression.
Location & details#
- Location: St. Louis, Missouri.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 1 through July 30).
- Modality: On-site, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Orientation: Mandatory in-person orientation from June 1 to June 4, 2027.
- Compensation: This is a paid position. A stipend of up to $4,200 is available for interns who cannot obtain outside funding.
- Requirements: Interns may not simultaneously engage in another internship while working with ArchCity Defenders.
