About the role#
ArchCity Defenders is looking for a Communications Intern to join our team for the summer of 2027. You will work alongside attorneys and staff to support our mission through media advocacy, content creation, and research. This is a full-time, paid position based in our St. Louis office.
What you'll do#
- Develop and present new communications and media ideas.
- Write content and take photos for print publications, marketing materials, and our blog.
- Produce videos, photos, and written content for our website and social media channels.
- Monitor and track earned media coverage across radio, print, television, and online outlets.
- Conduct research on social, legal, racial, and economic policy issues.
- Attend team meetings and assist with various projects to support the Communications department.
What you'll need#
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new systems.
- Experience or interest in creating accessible content for social media and drafting website copy.
- A detail-oriented approach to working within a team.
- Ability to work independently, solve problems, and manage time effectively.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing organizational needs.
- A commitment to racial and economic justice, along with an awareness of structures of power and privilege.
- Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work with diverse populations.
Location & details#
- This internship is located in St. Louis, Missouri.
- The role is on-site, with a mandatory in-person orientation from June 1 to June 4, 2027.
- The internship runs from June 1 to July 30, 2027.
- Expected hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- This is a paid position, with a stipend of up to $4,200 available for those who cannot secure outside funding.
