About the role#
ArchCity Defenders is seeking a Digital Media Intern to join the communications team. This role involves working with an interdisciplinary group to support the organization's mission through design, content creation, and media advocacy. Interns will collaborate with attorneys and staff to expand the reach of our legal and policy work.
What you'll do#
- Present new media ideas and brainstorm design concepts.
- Draft initial designs and assist with graphics for social media, print publications, and marketing materials.
- Produce photos and videos for the website and social media channels.
- Update website content using WordPress.
- Research social, legal, racial, and economic issues.
- Track and report on social media metrics to improve communications strategies.
- Attend team update meetings and assist the communications department as needed.
What you'll need#
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva.
- A desire to learn new systems and tools.
- Experience or interest in creating accessible content for social media.
- Ability to edit and draft website content.
- A detail-oriented approach and the capacity to work independently.
- Commitment to racial and economic justice.
- Cultural awareness and an understanding of power, privilege, and systems of oppression.
- Ability to work well in a team-driven organization.
Location & details#
- Location: St. Louis, Missouri.
- Modality: This is an on-site position. Plans may shift to remote work based on public health requirements or organizational needs.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Status: Part-time, paid internship.
- Majors: Communications, Media Studies, or Graphic Design.
- Note: Candidates must not be engaged in other internships simultaneously due to potential conflicts of interest.
