About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in the insurance industry. You will work with members of the specialty insurance team to develop professional skills and gain expertise in underwriting. This is a full-time, paid summer position.
What you'll do#
- Assist in underwriting sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, education, real estate, and public entities.
- Evaluate accounts for the wholesale distribution network, including those with exposure to natural disasters like floods, hurricanes, and wildfires.
- Manage incoming broker submissions to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Research new business opportunities by analyzing market trends and submission data.
- Review policy construction and prepare documentation for quotes and binders.
- Keep organized records of broker interactions, quotes, and bound policies.
What you'll need#
- Current Junior or Senior student graduating between December 2027 and May 2028.
- Enrollment in a Risk Management and Insurance, Engineering, or related degree program.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Proficiency in reading financial statements.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with public speaking and presentations.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

- Location: New York, New York.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).
- Term: June 2, 2027, to August 6, 2027.
- Compensation: $26 per hour.
