About the role#
As an Engineering Intern within the Wind River Cloud team, you will contribute to large-scale projects including Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenStack. You will work on the StarlingX cloud-native project to manage critical infrastructure for distributed edge solutions, specifically for 5G applications. This role requires working within a rigorous development environment to support configuration, fault, and host management.
What you'll do#
- Develop and test StarlingX for the Wind River Cloud Platform.
- Execute tests and build automation to gain a thorough understanding of the product.
- Take initiative to improve existing features and development processes.
- Contribute ideas for product iterations using data-driven insights and AI-based recommendations.
- Collaborate with global software engineering teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong knowledge of C, C++, and RTOS fundamentals.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python.
- Understanding of OOPS concepts, embedded systems, and software module development.
- Familiarity with driver and board-level system software test development.
- Excellent analytical and debugging skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Previous internship or practical experience is preferred.
- Completed embedded courses from institutes like Cranes or Vector are a plus.
- Interest in software quality and structured engineering processes.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The role is based in Kanata, Ontario.
- Work modality is hybrid, requiring on-site presence three days per week.
