    About the role#

    The Reliability Engineering team works across the broader Engineering organization to ensure our products meet mission performance requirements, withstand challenging environmental conditions, and satisfy customer specifications. As a Reliability Engineering Co-op, you will gain experience with advanced reliability tools and methodologies to drive excellence into our products. You will support Systems, Hardware, and Software Engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle by participating in failure analysis, predictive modeling, and qualification planning.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the review of system block diagrams, interface control documents, and schematics for compliance, redundancy, and accuracy.
    • Identify product risks and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
    • Support Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities and collaborate with engineering teams to implement product improvements.
    • Conduct predictive reliability analysis to calculate failure rates and Mean Time Between Failure metrics using industry specifications.
    • Develop maintainability prediction models and R&D qualification test plans to ensure requirements coverage.
    • Work with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to document inspection and acceptance test gates.
    • Perform Weibull analysis using data from qualification campaigns and fielded assets.
    • Use data analysis to identify key problem areas for deployed products and drive solutions to closure.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
    • Must be returning to school at the end of the internship to continue academic studies.
    • Ability to complete an in-person co-op in Costa Mesa during Winter 2027.
    • Must be a U.S. Person due to access to export-controlled information; U.S. clearance eligibility may be required.
    • Competence with engineering first principles and strong communication skills.
    • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Exposure to reliability analysis techniques such as FMEA, predictive modeling, and Weibull analysis is preferred.
    • Experience with test plan development, data acquisition, and failure analysis is preferred.
    • Prior internship experience or leadership on a collegiate project team or laboratory.
    • Demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills and technical writing experience.
